The Nasdaq Composite Index fell for the sixth consecutive session at the end of the session on Friday, recording its longest losing streak in more than a year.
The S&P 500 index also fell at the close for the sixth day in a row, in its longest losing streak since October, by 43.89 points, or 0.88%, to the level of 4,967.23 points.
The Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at an increase of 211.02 points, or 0.56%, to the level of 37,986.40 points, supported by a rise of more than 6% in American Express shares after the announcement of profits.
While technology put downward pressure on the market, investors' concerns about escalating conflict in the Middle East following the limited strike on Iran, which reports attribute to Israel, appeared to have largely dissipated after Friday's open.
